ramp-up method
It can take some time for skin to adjust to prescription skincare treatment containing tretinoin. Your provider may recommend using the treatment 2-3 nights a week for the first two weeks, then increasing the frequency of use during the following weeks as your skin adjusts. Always use prescription treatment as directed by your healthcare provider. If you are experiencing side effects that bother you or that don’t go away, consult with a provider through our platform.
layer with a moisturizer
If you are experiencing peeling or dryness (which is quite common after starting tretinoin), you may consider using a moisturizer after your acne treatment has been applied.
use daily SPF
Sun damage can happen quicker than you realize, and without visible effects. Your skin is particularly prone to photodamage while using treatment containing tretinoin, so make sure to use SPF (we recommend SPF 15+) on any sun-exposed skin.
switch to a non-irritating face wash
Harsh soaps or abrasive cleansers can contribute to dry, peeling and red skin. It is best to use a 4-10% benzoyl peroxide face wash while using acne treatment containing tretinoin.
