Do not use Liraglutide if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or currently breastfeeding.

  • Active Ingredients
    • Liraglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist used to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes and to aid in weight loss in certain adults.
      • Liraglutide’s most common side effects are constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, headache, upset stomach and/or stomach pain, and increased heart rate. Swelling or redness at the injection site may also occur.
      • Some patients may also experience pancreas or gallbladder problems while using liraglutide.  Stop using liraglutide and seek emergent medical care if you have severe abdominal pain, with or without vomiting, that will not subside.
  • Directions for Use
    • Check your prescription label for the correct dose prescribed by your medical provider.
    • Inspect liraglutide in the cartridge of the pen. The liquid should be clear, colorless, and free of any particles. If not, do not use the medication.
  • Inject subcutaneously once daily, around the same time each day, with or without meals. You may inject into the abdomen, front of your thigh, or the back of your upper arm. Rotate the site each day. Below is a diagram showing common injection sites.
  • Your liraglutide injection pen is a disposable single-patient-use prefilled pen injector that contains 3 mL of liraglutide injection and will deliver doses of 0.6 mg, 1.2 mg or 1.8 mg.
  • For detailed instructions on how to inject liraglutide pens, please refer to the instructions for use enclosed in the box with your medication.
  • Use as directed by your prescribing provider, as they may tailor your dosing to your individual response.
  • You will need to use a new needle for each injection.
  • After injecting, dispose of your used needle in a sharps disposal container. If you do not have one, you can use a plastic bin such as an empty milk jug or laundry detergent container.
  • Needles are for a single use only and should never be reused or shared with others.
  • Pens should never be shared with another person even if a new needle is applied. Sharing pens may pass infections from one person to another.
  • Place the protective cap back on the pen after removal of the needle to ensure safe storage.
  • Storage
    • Prior to initial use, store under refrigeration at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C); after initial use, may be stored in the refrigerator or at room temperature of 59°F to 86°F (15°C to 30°C).
    • Do not freeze; discard if freezing occurs.
    • Pen should be discarded 30 days after initial use even if some medicine is left in the pen.
    • Keep the pen cap on when your liraglutide injection pen is not in use.
    • Protect from heat and light.
    • Keep out of reach of children.
    • Under certain circumstances a prescription drug’s effectiveness may be affected by exposure to extremes of heat, cold, humidity, or light exposure.
